What are the best areas to stay in Formentera?

The entire island of Formentera is beautiful, and the distances are minimal (see map), so the best area to stay will depend on your tastes:

Es Pujols. Apartments in a central town, next to the beach, lots of life.

Es Caló. Little houses in a quiet little town, next to the beach.

Migjorn. Bungalows on very quiet beaches.

La Savina. The port is ideal if you will do nautical activities.

Rural environment. Little houses in Es Cap, Porto Salé, Sant Francesc, Sant Ferrán …

Come without a vehicle. We recommend La Savina, Es Pujols, Es Caló (all services and beach nearby).

To come to Formentera, should I book the flight first and then the accommodation? or vice versa?

Our advice is to see both things at the same time.

Maybe you buy a flight offer to Formentera, and then you discover that having a fixed date the accommodation options are smaller, and you end up spending a lot more on sleeping than what you have saved on the flight.

Keep this in mind mainly if you are going to come for a few nights, or if the flight is in the middle of the week.

Another detail to take into account with flights is that there is no ferry overnight, if the flight is late you may not be able to cross the island (see our ferry offers)

Should you arrive in Formentera on a weekend or on a weekday?

If you plan to stay in hotels, or apartment complexes or bungalows, it is indistinct.

But if you are looking for a privately owned rural house in Formentera (cheap or luxury), chances are they will ask you to enter at the weekend, mainly in high season.

When is the high, medium and low season in Formentera?

May and October are low season, you will find the best offers of houses in Formentera (in addition to a wonderfully quiet island)

June and September are mid season, with good value for money.

July and August are high season, prices are higher and you must book in advance.

Is it better to book a house or a hotel in Formentera?

If you come with a total rest plan, a hotel in Formentera may be the best option.
But if your stay will be longer, you want to control spending, or you are traveling with children, we recommend you rent something with a kitchen.

If you are looking for accommodation en Formentera that allows you to walk to the beach, focus your search on apartments and bungalows (there are very few houses near the beach).

How far in advance do you have to book a vacation rental in Formentera?

The sooner the better. The island is small and everything is handled very quickly. Mainly if you are looking for cheap accommodation, ocean view accommodation, or house / villa with pool.

Is it possible to rent cheap accommodation in Formentera?

In the months of May and October there are very good offers, from € 30 per person in high quality sites, which in August would cost you 5 or 6 times more.

In June, July and September you can find interesting prices, from € 40-50 per person, but you have to book early as this type of accommodation fills up very quickly.

At the end of July and August the prices go up, although there are always reasonably priced options. For example, we have accommodation from € 60-70 per person.

The more flexible your dates are, the more possibilities of getting something at a good price.

How much does it cost to rent a house with a pool in Formentera?

There are practically no small houses with a pool in Formentera. If you are looking for something with 1 or 2 bedrooms, better focus on apartments or bungalows with a shared pool.

Houses with a private pool in Formentera usually have between 3 and 6 bedrooms. Prices per night per person from: May and October € 40 | June and September € 60 | July € 80 | August € 90.

Accommodation in Formentera with young children.

If you come to Formentera with young children, we recommend that you book apartments or bungalows in quiet areas, and that you can walk to the beach.

Migjorn … Levante … Es Caló are nice options.

Can I cancel my accommodation reservation in Formentera? Will they charge me something?

That said, in general the cancellation conditions are quite strict on the island of Formentera.
Most of the accommodations allow free cancellations up to 60 days before, and then they will retain what you have paid in advance (for the owners it will be very difficult to re-rent, as last minute reservations are not the usual).

There are some exceptions, which allow cancellations up to 30 or 15 days before without cost, but they are very few.

If due to your personal circumstances there is a high risk of cancellation, we recommend you take out travel insurance … Remember to tell us so that we can offer you accommodation options with more flexible cancellation policies.

What is the tourist tax or eco tax of Formentera?

It is a rate charged by the Balearic Islands for each night of tourist accommodation.

From May 01 to October 31 it costs 2.20 euros x night x adult (over 16 years old). From the ninth night the cost is reduced by half.

This money is collected by accommodation, is paid upon arrival, and is NOT included in the price.

What accommodations accept dogs in Formentera?

We are not going to lie to you, today traveling with dogs to Formentera is not very easy (for example, there are no beaches where you can take them).

The few accommodations that accept them are rural houses in Formentera. Forget about complexes with pools, or by the beach.
