Formentera the island that does not exist

A general vision

Popular legends tell that the island does not exist, that it is a dream world, that only life in the fantasy of the visitor.

The statement may sound exaggerated, but anyone had the pleasure of discovering this paradise – whose main beach Illetes has been selected among the five best in the world – will know that in Formentera things are strange and nothing is as it should.

In this small piece of land 19 km long, Julio Verne set one of his novels.

It was inhabited by Phoenicians, Romans, Arabs and pirates, and today it is frequented every summer by movie stars, famous athletes and billionaires. But you will not see them in limousines, they driving Meharis of the 70s, because in Formentera fashion is Hippie Chic.

In Formentera there is no McDonald’s, here the restaurants have become famous by force of “paellas”, as well as the small “chiringuitos” (beach bars) are the meeting point of tourists from all over the world with the only purpose of enjoying the sunset.

In Formentera, the tranquility contrast with the noise of its older sister: Ibiza (30 minutes by ferry). In Formentera at night everyone dances to the rhythm of Flower Power because the true charm of the island is the relax.

Formentera has the most crystalline water in the Mediterranean, thanks to an aquatic plant called Posidonia. The island is a small version of Eden, where nudism is practiced with freedom and the top fashion is cycling on rural roads towards the beach.

For all this Formentera is the last paradise of the Mediterranean and only lives in our imagination.

Are you thinking about your Formentera Holidays?

We help you organize it!

How to get?

Formentera does not have airport, you must go by ferry from Ibiza or Denia. From Ibiza is only 30 minutes and the price goes from € 39 to € 48 round trip.

Where to sleep?

The usual is to go a beach every day, so don’t think your accommodation based on a nearby beach. You can choose houses, hotels, apartments and bungalows in rural landscapes or a few meters from a beach.

How to move?

The ideal if you come for the day is a bicycle (€ 10 to 14 per day), if you come for more days a motorcycle and a small car if you comes with family or groups (with a big car the parking is not easy).

What to do in Formentera?

The best activities are at sea: snorkeling (€ 50), diving (€ 95), catamaran tour (€ 90). The classic: rent a boat without certification and live the island on your own (from 10 to 19 hours for about € 250 with capacity for 4 people).

Rent a boat.

On your Formentera holidays, take a boat trip to the Ses Salines natural park, relaxed and with a captain to show you the secrets of the sea. Price: € 100 per person in group tour or from € 500 onwards in private.

Come for the day from Ibiza.

If you stay in Ibiza you can make your trip to Formentera on the same day. We have packs that combine ferries + vehicle (motorcycle, bike …) or activities such as diving, snorkeling, boat rental, etc.

Who recommend us?

“…From or Zodiac boat, the blue mosaic is surprising and inescapable, except when looking directly to the side. Then, all the color fades underwater: it is as clear as glass, mottled by rocks and sand on a shallow seabed. Jellyfish stir in the water and the dark grass of Neptune sways by the waves. “I miss this in the winter,” says our guide Ignacio Maciel, who organizes daily excursions with the Formentera Natural company…”

Formentera Natural Agency offers to organize your custom trip to Formentera. From the rental of the vehicles (bicycle, electric bicycle, car or scooter) to the reservation of activities (sailboat, catamaran, kayak, paddle surf, snorkeling, equestrian and hiking excursions), through the reservation of accommodation (hostel, house rural, bungalow, luxury villa …) and transport from Ibiza. The agency also organizes weddings on the island…”

“…Therefore, it is best to get carried away by some companies that organize different excursions to the islet. A good example is the Formentera Natural team, which organizes what you want most. One of the most demanded options is the practice of paddle surfing: from the port, a little boat with a glass floor – so you can enjoy the seabed – takes you to Illetas, where you anchor to enjoy the place. There, an instructor gives you the necessary advice and, finally, it is time to launch to discover S’espalmador
