Everything you need to know
Electric bikes have a great advantage over regular bikes, which is a motor that assists while pedaling. This doesn’t mean that you don’t need to make any effort on an electric bike, but the energy required is much less. Riding an electric bike requires no previous experience, if you know how to ride a bike, you can ride an electric one.
Formentera is a very small island (18 km long) and quite flat, it’s ideal to explore by electric bike (see our map). The only elevated area is La Mola (200 meters above sea level) at one end of the island; the rest (beaches and towns) are easily accessible by bike. An electric bike allows you to explore the whole island (including La Mola), and the models you’ll find on this website are designed for sandy terrain, which is ideal for the beach paths in Formentera.

If you want to discover Formentera by electric bike in one day, you have many options, but the main one can be divided into three stages:
1- Ses Illetes Route: view on Google Maps (15 minutes).
To get to Illetes you must pick up your bike at the Port of La Savina, follow the “red bike path through the village” and then continue along the sea (do not take the road), once with the sea to your left pedal straight to Illetes or Levante (the two main beaches of the island).
2- Illetes to Es Pujols: view on Google Maps (30 minutes).
From Illetes you can extend the ride to the town of Es Pujols, 2 km away. In this case, you will have to ride a few meters along the road. For the return to the port, a good alternative is to go around the lake and avoid the main road (see the option on Google Maps).
3- Migjorn Beach: view on Google Maps (1 hour).
If you’re looking for more adventure, from the town of Es Pujols there is a rural road to the beaches of Migjorn, crossing the island from one side to the other, you’ll find vast white sand beaches with many beach bars and restaurants.
And if you’re in good shape and still want to ride, you can continue to the Es Cap Lighthouse (a great spot to watch the sunset). On the way back to the port, you’ll pass through the main town, San Francisco.
This full tour takes about 3 hours of continuous pedaling (41 km) and you can take the whole day to do it while enjoying stops at different beaches and beach bars. To see the full tour follow this Google Maps link.

Which electric bike model to rent in Formentera?
We have 3 models of electric bikes.
Trekking E-Bike is the basic model with the lowest price and highest turnover. You’ll find this option below in our booking engine for regular bicycles. Follow this link to see prices and make your reservation.
TEXAS and LUXOR bikes. They have wide wheels and a more modern look. The main difference between the Texas and Luxor models is the height of the central bar (you can see it in the photos). Beyond the design differences, the models are very similar technically.
Another difference is that the TEXAS and LUXOR models require mandatory insurance of 6 € extra. For the Trekking, it is not required.
What is the price of electric bikes in Formentera?
The TREKKING bikes cost: 27.19 € per day, although the price decreases with more days.
The TEXAS bikes cost: 40 € per day + insurance 6 € (optional).
The LUXOR bikes cost: 45 € per day + insurance 6 € (optional).
This price includes: helmet, lock, basket.
Not included: full insurance and deposit.
The full insurance has an extra cost of 6 € per day and is paid upon picking up the bike.
The deposit is 100 € per bike and is paid in cash or by card.

From Ibiza: Ferry with electric bike.
If you are in Ibiza and want to visit Formentera for a day, this is one of the best deals you will find:
Ferry + Electric Bike in Formentera: 68 € per person.
The price includes: round-trip ticket from the port of Ibiza to the port of Formentera OPEN. This means you can take any ferry from the Trasmapi company.
Once at the port, it includes a Texas model electric bike. You can pick up the bike between 9 and 13 h at the port of Formentera (150 meters from the ferry arrival point).

Electric bike rental at the Port of Formentera.
The pickup office is located at the only port of Formentera, La Savina. Once the reservation is made, you will receive a map and the address by email, however it is only 150 meters from the ferry arrival point.
The low season hours are: 10:30 to 19:30 h
High season hours are: 9:30 to 20:00 h (June, July, August, and September).

In Formentera, how to move around by electric bike with luggage.
If you have booked your accommodation with Formentera Natural, we will take your luggage at no cost, both on arrival and return (this service depends on the type of accommodation and length of stay; otherwise, it has a reduced cost). So you can book the bike directly by email and we will coordinate everything to make it as easy as possible for you.
If you have not booked your accommodation with Formentera Natural, you can opt for a taxi (around 15 to 20 € per trip), and request delivery of the bikes to your accommodation.
This service costs 7 € per bike.

Although the island is small, cycling around Formentera on an electric bike requires time and a bit of planning to visit the most interesting places. One might think that the fastest route is the best, but in Formentera that means taking the main road (a straight route with bike paths on the sides). However, if you take that route, you’ll miss the island’s true charm, which lies in its rural roads, natural parks, and access to less crowded beaches.

It is not legal to carry a child seat on an electric bike in Formentera. Generally, child seats are for children up to 20 kg and have an extra cost on regular bike models.
